In todays economy, many people are searching for ways to make extra money. And many of these people are turning to the Internet. More and more people are realizing that when done properly, you can make money on the Internet. It does take some knowledge and some work, but the rewards can be very worthwhile. There are thousands of tips and ideas on operating an online business, but one of the most important ones that you’ll ever use is to improve your writing skills.
Writing is not as difficult as many think it is. Many people fear things they are not familiar with. How often I hear; “I can’t write, I’ve no talent for that or I’ve run out of things to write about.” Hogwash, anyone can learn to write if they are willing to spend some time and practice. To get your name out there on the Internet you need to do a lot of writing, or I guess to be more accurate, it is one of the key ways to get your name known. To make extra money online you must brand your name and get a huge amount of quality content published.
Remember how we all learned our ABC’s or how we learned to do cursives writing? All it took was some guidance and practice. It is true some can write easier and more creatively than others but it is a skill that can be learned. First take some time and Google whatever topics you would be writing on, that is your niche, and see what catches your eye. Look for topics to make extra money online and make notes as well, they will help you in the future. Remember an article, blog or web has only 3 to 5 seconds to catch someone’s attention or they click on. So what catches your attention? Look at fonts, colors, topics, headers and style. In the end, content is king.
Like anything, if you want to stay informed you have to continually read current research and studies. And if you want to make extra money online, you will have to take the time to do this. It is important to keep up with the trends so you will always be reading and I suggest Google Search for whatever topic you are working with. Look at forums, press releases, blogs, webs and book mark those that interest you so you can go back to them for the latest trend. The world is constantly changing so don’t become stale. It is best to be yourself and not try to mimic someone else writing styles. It makes you feel more real, more human. People can feel when you are writing like a robot. Also being you will allow your creative side to emerge as you do more and more writing. I suggest starting with blogging, it is good practice.
We all have some hobby or some topic that interests us. And because we enjoy something we usually know more about it. It becomes a passion for us. And since your purpose is to make extra money, it will make your job much easier and more enjoyable if you’ve a niche that is something you really care about. Trying to write about some dry topic you could care less about takes and excellent writer to be successful. Let that go to the professionals. The mind goes a bit blank after writing for long periods. I have a kitchen timer, set it for one hour and when it rings, I get up, stretch, do a few yoga positions or walk out to the garden, get some water and fruit, or whatever to break up the body and mind blocking up. When I come back to my PC, my mind is fresh and ready to go again.
Most people find it difficult to get started writing about a topic. A good method to get your mind warmed up is to make a simple outline to give you some direction. Sometimes I have a general idea but not sure how to approach it. That can be tough. So I just start writing, somewhat like having a conversation, to get the flow going. I can always go back and reword, delete or add to it. Now you have one more article done and hundreds to come bubbling from within. Enjoy the process.
