What exactly drives a person to begin their own business? Is it something we are born with or is it a result of the way we are brought up? Being in business is not an easy thing, but yet many people have always wanted to be their own boss. Maybe it’s the thought of being in control of their own destiny. whatever the reason may be, more and more people are turning to the Internet to make money online.
Many successful people began their career in the world of business early in life. I started my first business in 1st grade buying penny candy and selling it for a nickel at school and it was a big success, at least with the kids. I guess I am dating myself here but to say I have been in business for myself for 54 years is true. Of course things changed along the way. When the school shut me down I went on to bigger and better things. Set up kids to take their wagons collecting glass pop bottles, house cleaning service, gardening (weeding) service, babysitting, cleaning fish and more. Where ever I could find a way to be in business and if possible hire (under the table of course) other class mates to work for me, well, I did it. We did not have personal PCs back all the way through college but if they had I am sure I would have had a home business to make money online.
As we grow up we have good and not so good experiences in life, and sometimes the lessons we learn are hard to accept. But we must if we are to move forward. Along the way as a budding entrepreneur I learned a few things that have been great lessons. Beginning my business career rather naively believing everyone told the truth when they said they would get me started, set up to run a business, teach me what I needed to grow or even pay me on time for my services rendered, well, wrong! That doesn’t always follow true. I do not ever want to become cynical but I am a lot wiser in doing my research before leaping into a business. I was always willing to work but I expected to make money. For some reason today people expect to make money online without doing any work.
Today there are so many companies on the Internet promising that you can make money online. However long before the Internet I have been involved with MLM companies. I think the first one was a long gone MLM company called SWIPE cleaning products. (Mom may still have some under the kitchen sink; she always was my best customer). But although we saw some amazing demonstrations, when I went to use the products they never seemed to work as well as demonstrated. So I stopped that one right away and switched to another company that has also long gone by the way side. It was one company or one great opportunity after another, all doomed to fail because the system was set up for only those that got in at the beginning or products were not what they appeared to be. Poor compensation and team building plans ran the show.
Most of us will learn something from our mistakes. If we don’t we probably will keep making the same mistakes. Some parts of my learning curve have been brutal and costly. Yes, the lessons have been hard and expensive. But I learned something with every mistake and the lesson that came with it. You never fail unless you QUIT. I learned to first always look at myself and what part I played in the business lesson so as not to go through life blaming everyone but myself. That in its self was a very valuable lesson. If you want to make money online you have to take responsibility for you actions.
With the birth of the Internet my priority was to make money online. This was no easy task but I was willing to learn how to do it. It became critical to learn how to research a company and find a leader and the team I wanted to align with. I also learned how to find the tools for the web/Internet training needed. I learned how to tell who was a team player and who was in to take me for a ride. I found that I wanted to help others not have to go through the years and financial loss, to help them to be successful. I guess I decided to be kind of like the Robin Hood of network marketing.
In order to be successful using the Internet I had to study and learn how it worked. It didn’t happen over night. I learned about finding Internet marketing tools that were often free with no strings attached and what types of tools I would need. Also I started looking into outreach methods such as social networking, blogging, joining forums, press releases and SEO tricks of the trade. I somewhat see myself as the Robin Hood of the Internet Marketing. Someone has to help people not get ripped off and how to find the help they need. In todays world, to make money online is a serious opportunity but you do need to work with a strong viable team with and excellent marketing plan and training program.
